RatlinesSet in 1963 in Ireland this thriller as they prepare for the first foreign visit of a US president and  a German businessman is murdered in a seaside guesthouse. He is the third foreign national to die within a few days, and Minister for Justice Charles Haughey is desperate to protect a shameful secret: the dead men were all former Nazis granted asylum by the Irish government.

Albert Ryan is tasked with finding who is doing the killing and apprehend them before President Kennedy arrives which results in a superb fast paced thriller weaving between fact and fiction.

With a well develop plot and an assured writing style this is a great read. It’s a new direction from Neville and possibly (and hopefully) the first in a new series as this is his best crime novel to date.
