I lent this book to a friend who had not read a book in years and generally does not like reading. They loved it so much they went out and got the image of protagonist V’s mask tattooed up his leg. I am still waiting for my copy to be returned. If that’s not a good recommendation I don’t know what is. The image of V’s Guy Fawkes mask has in recent years become the universal image of protest. The reason for this lies in the pages of Alan Moore’s dark and brilliant comic retelling of the Guy Fawkes story as one man (with a little help) stands up against an oppressive government and kick starts a revolution in a not so futuristic London.
